Continue through a Computer Crash Windows XP crashes are a very common thing. Most people just go ahead and turn their computer off and back on, and wait for it to go through the whole restart process, AND they lose all of their unsaved work. One trick you should all take the time to learn about is simply restarting the explorer.exe process. In doing this, all running processes are suspended, while the explorer process refreshes to the memory in a new fresh state. This gives room and time for the other processes to fix up in the meantime. To do this, all you have to do is press: Ctrl+Alt+Delete which will bring up the windows task manager (taskman.exe). Click on the processes tab, click on explorer.exe and then click end process. Wait for a short moment, and then proceed to press file in the task manager screen, then click "New Task(Run...)" Type in the box that comes up: "explorer.exe" without the quotation marks. This should bring your desktop back up, and hopefully resume whatever you were doing previously, in a working state.
